Following God's direction in the face of what seems certain peril is Ananias' legacy.  The outcome:  the gift of conversion of a man who was a relentless warrior in preaching the good new of Jesus Christ.

Somebody's gotta do it!  We have all heard those words. The people of Israel were abandoning their faith. Few listened to or spoke the words of God . A woman named Deborah began to listen to the troubles of her people and she dared to speak messages from God to her rebellious neighbors.   Her role grew and grew until she was the supreme prophetic voice in Israel. The leadership of this ordinary woman saved her people.

The man who stood alone showed us something about God.  His courageous stand opened opportunities for God to reveal his faithfulness to a people who desperately needed to know him.  What we learn from this story is about so much more than just courage.

Does God hear the cry of your soul when you are hurting?  Does he see the depth of your need when you are desperate?     It is sometimes hard to believe that the God of the universe is interested in the details of the lives of ordinary people.   But the story of Hagar is the story of a slave girl who learns that God does hear, He does see and He does reveal the meaning behind our pain. In a world of 8 billion ordinary people, God hears and sees you!
